The flight begins boarding in about 30 minutes. I wasn’t sure I would actually be able to board my flight until about 9 hours ago because of an error in my name. Note for anyone booking with Expedia. They may give you an option to write a nickname for yourself when creating your account. If they do give you this option save yourself the trouble and don’t fill it out.
The name on the passport should match exactly with what is read on the boarding pass and it was my mistake to not make the change right away.
“[...] and were you satisfied with your service today?”
The flight needed to be rebooked and the airline refused to change the name from Danny to Daniel. I couldn’t exactly tell the Expedia representive who I was on the phone with four hours that I was satisfied, but bless her soul for staying on line with me for that amount of time.
What matters now is that I still get to go on the same flight and later tonight my friend Kjetil, who is visiting from Norway, and I will be reunited in Quito, Ecuador with my two brothers and their girlfriends who departed from NY on different flights earlier this morning.
These next two weeks will be the last I get to spend with my brother Tony who will be moving with his girlfriend Nikola to the Czech Republic after this trip in South America. It hasn’t hit me fully yet but it’s the first time my two brothers and I won’t be a trifecta anymore for an extended period of time.
I am starting this blog because I’ve always kept a illustrated account of trips that I have been on but never shared much writing and I think both are important. So for these next few weeks I plan on keeping a sketchbook and documenting this trip through illustrations and sharing it with whoever reads this on here. Hope some of you follow along!
